One of the copies of my XP partition has got into a muddle with its
drive lettering. I want to clear the XP signatures in the MBRs on
all five hard drives

Is there a utility which can backup all the MBRs without having to
reboot each time?

Even better, is there such a utility which will do the backups
while I am in XP?
