Backing Out of XP Setup over ME

I started installing Windows XP Home over an existing Windows ME. I
backed out of it when I came to the blue formate screen. I want to
upgrade not overwrite.

Everytime I boot I have to select Windows ME or it will revert back to
Windows XP setup. How do I get rid of that?

Now that I have a Windows XP Upgrade CD when I run it I get a message
that another operation is already running. How do I correct this?

I looked for a directory call UNDO but it's not there.

When you get the option to select a boot between ME and XP hit the F8 key
and see if there is an option to uninstall/remove the incompleted
installation of XP.
