I have a PC game who sound doesnot work ever since I
upgraded from directx 8 to direct x 9. The PC vendor
admitted to an incompatibility problem with directx 9; w2k
and their software and recommended that I back it out by
using un-installers and then re-installing the OS.

Well - uninstallers do not work so I re-installed the
entire OS and it still does not work. Granted the re-
installed process does not overwrite my data files so my
next steps is to back-up everything clean out the
directories and then re-install.

Does anyone know a way to get back to directx 8 they way
it was before I upgraded? I am at directx 8 which used
to work but does not now
