I have a .wav file play when I open the index page from
within frontpage 2002 itself (preview) but when I
published my website it doesn't play at all

Any ideas why?

Is the web .wav file being uploaded, and if publishing to a Unix/Linux OS
server, check the CaSe of the folder and file name with the actual link in
HTML view of your page.
