I use Peachtree Accounting. To email an invoice to a customer Peachtree open
an Outlook 2007 new message window with the invoice as a PDF attachment. Hit
SEND and the message closes but is never sent UNTIL I manually open Outlook.
The message is found in the Outbox and normal send and receive will send the
message.

In the past I never had to open outlook, them message was automatically sent
in the background.

What setting do I need to change to get it to send?

Nothing, that's how it works when it uses SimpleMAPI to send the message.
For it to send automatically, either Outlook must be running or the
application must be programmed to send it via the Outlook Object Model
instead.
