background image loads and then disappears

I have a users laptop top that when it first boots, there is a background
image in the screen and by the time its done booting the image goes away and
I am left with a blue screen (not a BSOD), just a blue background screen with
all the icons. The computer works fine. I am trying to locate that image and
copy it off the system. Where would it come from? It only appears until the
boot process is finished and goes away.
