When I create a meesage in Microsoft Outlook, I use a colour as the
background but my recepients do not see the colour. What's the point of
having the option for coloured background if only I can see it?1

Version? Many users read all mail in Plain Text, which strips all HTML and
stationery with color. You must use stationery to use colors by selecting
Tools, Options, Mail Format, select HTML, Stationery Picker. You must be
using HTML for your email to use stationery.
