After a malware infection I have managed to clean up the computer I've used
the spyware doctor and norton antivirus programsI've cheked several times to
be sure that every thing is working fine except that the desktop now
includes a colour under the icons text . The effect is that icons in the
desktop now all appear to be selected.
I've allready done this steps without succes:

1) 'System Properties' -> 'Advanced' tab -> Performance 'Settings' ->
'Visual Effects' tab:
"use drop shadows for icon labels..." must be checked

2) Right-click on Desktop -> 'Arrange Icons by' -> "Lock Web items..." must
be CLEARED

3) If you have any web content on your desktop, transparency won't work.

To check for web content: Display Properties > Desktop tab > Customize
Desktop button > Web tab > make sure all checkboxes are clear.

4) Wallpaper must be an image file, not html.

could be something changed in the registry?

when you select item on the desktop, do you still have to double-click for
the item to be run/opened? If it is a single click like a web page, you
probably have the single-click option selected. To switch it off, open
Windows Explorer and go to Tools > Folder Options. On the General tab,
select "Double-click to open an item".

Next time do NOT install any malware. This way, after revomal of said
malware, you wont be left with any damage it may, or have, done.

The choice is up to you.
