I have a backdoor virus. The problem file is called ms_bak.tmp in
winodws/system
I've tried to delete this file but my computer is not allowing me.
Norton anti-virus can't delete it either.
Any suggestions?

TIA

There's a good chance that at some stage you have been infected by
Backdoor.Sdbot.F

Unless for some reason you stopped NAV midway of dinsfecting your machine,
it should have deleted this and other files from your system and changed
the registry in one go.

It is also likely that you don't have the latest antivirus definitions, or
that your Live Update files have been corrupted. For starters download the
defs. using the intelligent updater
http://securityresponse.symantec.com....download.html and after
you run this file, scan your hard drive again. It should delete the
ms_bak.tmp along with its brothers ) Then download the Live Update from
the Symantec website (search for lusetup.exe) which should fix your Live
Update.

If you want to delete this particular file then try
right-click/Properties, and untick Attributes: Read-Only. However, first
check which files and perhaps registry entries you ought to delete/modify
without causing damage to your system.

Regards,

Mick
