In Word, I used to be able to highlight text with my cursor and then hit back
space to delete all the highlighted text.

Somehow I've changed the commands (??) so I can't do this now - when I hit
the back space button it leaves the highlighted text on the page and puts the
cursor at the beginning of the highlighted section.

Does anyone know how I would reset or fix?

Thank you!

Tools>Options>Edit, a check in the box for 'Typing replaces selection' should
do it.
