I am using a small pier-pier network on win xp trying to
access files thru network on second computer. remote
drive mapped as the z: drive.

I can access files ok thru windows explorer. but only
after I use windows explorer.

When the systems are first turned on and waiting till
everythins is initilized. (I wait ten minutes or so). If
I try and access files thru foxpro or other applications
on the remote computer thru the network (Referencing as
z:\file.dbf) I receive an error message that the files do
not exist.

If I then use exporer to look at the files within z:\
they are indeed there.

After using the explorer I try again to access files thru
foxpro or other applications on the remote computer thru
the network (Referencing as z:\file.dbf) I am then able
to access the files with no errors.

It is if I have to awaken the network with windows
explorer before the network works...

any one got any ideas???
