I tried Trend Micro on my Vista Ultimate computer and had a real
nightmare. Right after I installed it, I could no longer use my
Remote Desktop Connection to access my office computer from home. And
I needed to, badly.

TM sent me "solutions" (sometimes the same one repeatedly), and
nothing worked. Then one day the TM software automatically installed
an update that required a reboot. Except that I couldn't reboot. At
all. I couldn't even repair the installation of Windows because the
Windows DVD would not recognize that there was a version already
installed! That bad boy was gone. So I had to reinstall Windows, a
brand new install, which meant that I had to reinstall all of my
software, as well. It took me many days to recover.

I called TM and told them I had had enough and wanted my money back
(it was less than a year since I bought it). They agreed, but more
than a month and several threats later, no 50 bucks.

I replaced TM with Microsoft's OneCare. I'm no great fan of
Microsoft, but after it was installed it found half a dozen infected
files (archived emails) that TM seems to have missed.

The way I see it, this was a cheap lesson. Now I can teach everyone
else so they don't have to pay the same tuition. Tell your friends.

You really don't state anything and your experience doesn't teach anyone anything.

In actually, you went from a fair to good AV solution to one of the worst in the Industry.

Netx time instead of whining here about your negative experiences, ask questions.

My experience with Trend Micro is that their user support is
worse than non-existent.

Worse bco the wasted man hours/frustration finding out that
there's nothing of use behind the boilerplate and inane answers.

I dumped Trend Micro after putting up w/PC-Cillin way too long.

Dunno from Vista, but Avast has been good to me for over a year
now on my XP Pro boxes.... and the price is definitely right.

I had a 30-day trial of TM on a new Inspiron and experienced no
problems. What happened to the OP sounds like a botched install...but
that's just a guess. I've since dumped TM in favor of free Avira/
Comodo which are okay so far (Vista Premium).

I hate to tell you - but...

"In tests involving worms, viruses, Trojan horses, and other malware,
Microsoft's Windows Live OneCare came in dead last."
