Thru research, I found out that pcsandmore was offering the Dell
2001FP monitor for $719 (total cost). This was somewhat less than
Dell's best offer for the item so I jumped on it and placed the order
on 2004-01-26. My credit card was charged that same day via PayPal,
which the seller insisted I use for buying this item (but not other
items being sold, curiously).

After waiting 10 days and not receiving the item or hearing from them,
I contacted pcsandmore.com.

They said that I because they had over 200 to ship that it would take
a while and if I couldn't wait, I should file a complaint to PayPal to
get a refund. I told them I'd be willing to wait if I could receive
the item within a reasonable amount of time and asked if they could
tell me how long. They answered simply, "No I can not".

Obviously this answer left me wholly unsatisfied. I then told them
that if they could promise to ship the item before 2004-02-23 (when
the PayPal credit card charge needed to be paid), I'd grudgingly wait
but otherwise I'd be forced to seek a refund as I didn't want to
actually pay for the item when who knows how long, if ever, I'd see
the item.

Rather than make any attempt to deliver the item by then (which is a
ridiculous 1 month wait for an item to ship AFTER BEING CHARGED in any
case), they basically insisted I file with PayPal to get my money
back. With this kind of response, I had no choice and I have just done
so.

Interestingly, they still have this item in stock now priced at $919
(which is above Dell's own discounted price of $750 which Dell offers
now and then).

I expect to get all of my money back either via PayPal or my own
credit card company. However, this has resulted in much wasted effort
and time!

It is now clear to me that pcsandmore.com was committing the fraud of
"bait advertising". They were advertising an item for a price that
they never fully intended or want to sell.

Beware of this company and any others that offer good deals but with
little track record, and stick to known companies such as newegg,
zipzoomfly, compuplus, etc!

There is a reason why a company wants you to use Paypal instead of a credit
card. I guess you found out the hard way. If this was a credit card to
make the purchase directly, you could have told the cedit card company to
issue a chargeback for the item that will not be shipped.

Beware of Paypal
