Avira question

OK -- I just could not get AVG 8.0 to work without slowing my computer to a
CRAWL. I have no idea why, after tweaking for days, I said hell with it.

So, now, I am trying the free version of Avira. It does seem to be working
okay without the bloat (I think -- I need to try more things).

My question is simple. When scanning it seems the default is:
"Use smart extensions"

Another option I can configure is to scan "all files."

Is the default good enough? I'm running it for the first time now and it
does take awhile!

Thank you for enlightening me.
I think I have the same settings you do (they are the default).

Smart Extensions is a way of decreasing overhaed by decreasing the number of files actually
being scanned. Either you scan ALL files or you scan files with extensions most well known
to be used maliciously.

If you are unsure, select all files and see how much overhead it adds.
