How long would it take to get a 700 meg avi file to mpeg?

I was told someone can convert say 700 or 900 megs in 1 hr.

Does anyone know any good free software to convert avi to a dvd player.

This is me

depends on the bitrate, resolution and the hardware involved

You might find something above . Nero will convert aswell . I've used Cucusoft paid version and they do a free version aswell . Takes me about one and a half hours on my pc to recode a 700 mb .avi file .

Yes depends on hardware.

1 Hour in todays standards is very slow

Takes me between 10 - 20mins i think Using WinAVI

Turn off the recommended settings.

Break your computer and learn to fix it.
