I have had sufficient time to test the apps out. It is possible to
make a avi movie into a self displaying movie via this method.

1) Get the software
A) CapturePad 100 beta
www.webattack.com
http://www.capturepad.com/
B) Flash Studio Pro (*1)
http://www.multidmedia.com/software/flashstudio/

2) Install both software apps
3) Find a movie you want converted. Load both the movie player and
CapturePad
4) Record the movie on screen to SWF format in a directory of your choice.
5) Exit both movie player and CapturePad
6) Use FSP to convert the SWF into an executable.
7) Enjoy your new self displaying Avi file.

If and when Vrolock ever puts the zip file on a web site, I would go get
that file myself as I want the more direct "AVI2EXE" approach offered.

------------------------------------------
1: SWF Media Browser http://www.swishsoft.com did a better job space
wise than Flash Studio Pro. It is not clear at this time which is truly the
better SWF2Exe compiler. The one current known drawback is that SWF Media
Browser is shareware not freeware. Flash Studio Pro does appear to be
free for non commercial use.

This could be the only freeware way to convert AVI to EXE

That is part of the problem. If you do not have one you can use, I do not
know. If the total size is not too big ( 1 dot 8 MB) (*1), I would say
email me the file in pieces one piece at a time and I will make it
available on my net site after reassembly. I could probably leave it
there for at least 30 days before needing the space. If the file is
larger, then it may take many more days of emailing provided you are
willing to do the sending.
I do request that no more than roughly 1 dot 8 mb per day is sent.

I am currently possessing about 6 MB free;
estimated 1 dot 1 net pages
estimated 7 dot zero "Courtesy Service" CRPG files (temp availible) (*2)

If the total size is under 6MB, It will be uploaded minutes after I have
the complete file. I just can not keep it there for very long say 2 maybe
three days.
-----------------------------
1: I recall my ISP email box having a 2MB capacity. If I did not get this
wrong, 1 dot 8 MB per day until it is done would not be a problem IF, and I
do mean IF, you are willing to do the sending. I do request plain zip
files without extras.

2: In another group I sometimes visit some posters needed files that used
to be on the net from the official source. The official net site is
currently down for an unknown time span. I had them and uploaded them for
download by all who are interested on a "AS IS" basis in a zip file I split
into smaller pieces.

I re-archived the relevant files in order that they might fit on a 720 Kb
floppy. Shall I assume the your shown, here, e-mail address is un-munged &
valid, & (the) files should be sent to that address?

I think the files successfully decompressed this time. I have uploaded
them to my net site.

http://www.geocities.com/nocturnalra...twareMenu.html

Anyone who wants them should not tarry. I do not expect to keep them up
past 30 days barring legal request for a takedown.

PS: I did find a site that has "ConvertTools.zip" on it. I did download
this file so if any of the files above are defective, I can try again much
easier. I will need to split the source zip file as it is over 2 megabytes
in size. This will be an easy task via GDG Split. I found this site when
preforming a last minute [ 11222003 @0542 hours ] check on "avi2exe" via
google.

The language is Vietnamese AFAIK.
