Free edition, still scanninig after 8 hours!!
I had installed this before and it was very quick, about an hour or so
but I uninstalled it due to other problem.

To fix those problems I installed XP service pack 3.

I re-installed AVG8 and now it takes an hour to run.
The XP SP£ thing might be a read herring.


Is there a solution?

Did you read the release notes and implemented the prerequisites prior
downloading/installing SP3?

Does it stay in a specific file or take longer to scan specific file
formats?

Does it stay in a specific file or take longer to scan specific file
formats?

It just takes longer all round it seems.
I never really timed it before, and only used to scan one
drive,I think it took 2 hours.

It now scans two one 80 gig and the 250 gig slave,
I have no idea what is 'normal' scan time.

A disk surface scan took 4 hours for the 80 gig drive
