Just my personal experiences :
I have used Norton since the old DOS days. Still have an old DOS ver
of Norton Utilities on a dust covered floppy somewhere ? My newest box
came pre-loaded w/ McAfee....The first thing I did was uninstall it
and installed Norton System works 2003 w/ NAV 2003.
Recently, not unlike you, I wanted to try another AV...just to check
behind Norton.
I chose Kaspersky 5 personal (KAV). I must confess, I really was
impressed w/ KAV. It found a trojan that NAV had not detected.
Only prob was NAV was crippled while KAV was installed. ( and I only
used KAV to run in the background...not both )
I uninstalled NAV 2003 w/ the intent of keeping the rest of Norton
System Works and then KAV wouldn't work properly ( the NAV 2003
uninstall had left some invalid registry values that screwed up KAV's
JScript access ability.
So to make a long story short, these two AV(s) would not "play"
together on my box....
I think some things like using Opera instead of IE and Poco Mail
instead of Outlook have been helpful preventing virii as well.
Although, I have to use IE for updates ( scares the hell out of me
every time I have to use IE......

)
