If you have upgraded to version 7.5.1.36 did you :
(1) Remove version 7.5.0.50 before new version was installed ?
(2) Receive new version thru check for update or a new download ?
(3) And do you end up with a new 30 days of real-time protection ?

Robin announced on 6/03 that a new version was comming out for Vista
on 6/07 , this version states that it's for Windows 2000/XP/2003 so i don't
know about Vista's new upgrade. Looking for some answers on how you
installed the new version . Thanks Ron

Hi Ron,

I just did a Help | About on my version of AVG AS.

When I click on the Program Tab it shows 7.5.0.460, and when I click on the
Version tab it displays Program Version 7.5.472.

My question is -- for knowing if I should update or not -- what version do I
ACTUALLY have?

Alan

I have not received the upgrade yet via update- waiting a few days to see it
if comes through (that is a paid version)

I have put it on vista with no problems so far. but in 30 days it will
become free and after looking at the forums you cannot disable the guard.exe
or it will not run.

I will put it on my test machine tomorrow over the old freeversion in xp and
see what happens then i will report here

ok first to make it free- you cannot stop the 'guard service"
I tried and program told me when double clicking it- it cannot start and
would need to be installed.
I went back into "services" and started and enabled the guard service to
automatic.
It does give you the 30 day option again in the free version
Then went back to the icon and it loaded fine.
You can stop the residential shield from loading in startup.
I installed the new version on one of the computers that has the pro version
right on top of the prior one (just to see what would happen) and install
went fine and I still have the exact same expiration date I had before the
install.

I am going to wait with the other computer to see if it actually will
update. I will give it a few days and if nothing happens I will install the
new version on top of it too.

It really doesn't look any different from the older 7.5 version

Hi again Robin,

I already responded a few minutes ago and said it's the free version. I
should have read the starter topic more carefully and used AVG A/V, rather
than AVG AS in my original reply..

You are referring to AVG AntiSpyware, while I was talking about AVG Anti
Virus.

Oops!! :>
