Hi all - AVG 6.0, Windows ME

I am having problems with a setting on my AVG 6.0 for e-mails.

When I click the Outlook Express 5 Plugin in the E-mail settings after
opening my system, then try to open the Delete Box, the system hangs and I
have to shut down using the Power button. Then, when I power back up, the
system hangs and will not fully load, then suddenly crashes to the blue
screen and I have to shut down using the Power button.

I had to start the system in Safe Mode and tried to do a system restore,
but, suddenly have no restore points, even though my Disable Restore is not
checked, and there should be at least the new restore point I set yesterday
afternoon. I was able to open the AVG Control Center and uncheck the 5
Plugin and then restarted. All is now ok, but, I don't know why the OE 5
Plugin would cause this kind of serious reaction.

I would truly appreciate it if someone might explain why this might have
happened.

Best regards,
Jan

Here's a clue...

Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1106

Note the 6 at the start of the version number. AVG's OE plugin only
really works with version 5, that's why it's called Outlook Express 5
plugin.

Well...yeah, I did see that, and then I thought...'Ya know, they sometimes
create things for one version, but, it can also fit another, but, they don't
always tell ya that.' <g>

Thanks for the info.

Have a great day! Oh...and, be sure to say 'Hi' to your friend Conor for
me. You *do* know him....don't you? He always says he knows Jack ****. :-)))

I'm also on Win ME, and my system crashes when I try to use the
OE 5 plugin...and yet I know a lot of people on Win 98 who have
it running - I did find something on the AVG site abt it, but
can't find it now.... but it wasn't very enlightening

Hmm...it would be interesting to know if anyone using OE5, with WinME, and
using the OE5 PlugIn in AVG 6, has had any problems with it. I mean,
yeah...I can see that being a OE5 PlugIn it might not work with OE6, as
Conor so kindly pointed out (bg), but, I wonder how well it actually works
with OE5 on WinME from AVG 6.

Oh well, maybe with a bit of luck, Grisoft will maybe add a OE6 PlugIn at
some point.

Thanks for the additional information, I really appreciate it.

Jan
