I'm unable to access the AVG home page or download anything from their
server. Is anybody else having this problem?

You have to be patient right now. They are being hit hard with
requests for updates. I am on a cable connection and it took 4 tries
before I got through.

You have to wonder if the linux ftp sites are being as equally hard hit

I would say "yes." I have been trying to download MandrakeMove for several
days now. Have tried many different mirrors and FTP servers, and can almost
never connect. When I do, I get maybe 50 megs or so, and lose the
connection. Haven't been having problems downloading anything else.

Thanks everybody for replying. I had set up my friend's new computer
last night (used a miserably slow 9 pin serial null modem cable and
the XP "File and Settings Transfer Wizard" to get everything over from
his old computer to his new) and set up AVG on his system. What an
unfortunate coincidence that their server would be offline when I went
to download the initial signature update. At any rate, I just
succeeded in updating my copy, then called my friend and ran him
through getting the update for his. All is well.

Thanks again.

I am recieving about 4 emails with the MyDoom attachment every hour. I
called my cable company and they said they are trying to block servers
where the emails are reported to have come from. Nothing is apparently
working, just the delete key. I have never seen anything like this. I
wonder if this is going to be some 13 year old kid responsible for
this?

Heh heh. Since having my ISP change my user ID, I get *no* spam. I
highly recommend that trick. Also, don't have a website that makes
that user ID public in the address. But the MyDoom virus and
corresponding requests for AVG signature updates may be what caused
the AVG server to shut down temporarily.

No; you just have it sent to someone else, instead.

Have you got permission from the owner of secrewspam.to, yet?
