In the previous version I simply edited url.ini and added a list of
servers. When I had a problem accessing one I just chose another.

This file no longer exists. Anyone know how to add a few alternative
servers for updates in the new AVG 7.0?

Thanks,
Dan

I've tried hostfile adjustments - though it often seems to make little
difference.

The default, is that the initail check is made to GURU.GRISOFT.COM
seems to point to 193.86.3.34

The file collection, seems to be made from FREE.GRISOFT.CZ
(pool of 193.86.3.36 193.86.3.37 193.86.3.38)

I've tried hostfile setting GURU.GRISOFT.COM to one of those - it can
work, but often not any better than the default

193.86.103.x (10,11,21,22) may also work.

I've fidddled, but it's often just as bad, or works better when I
comment out the hosts entry again - so far, I've only meddled with the
first stage, as that's wher it seems to get hung up on.

Another tip, I thought the shedule time was related to the install
time (within 2 hour periods), but it's actually randomized if you
reschedule - so I'd suggest rescheduling and hoping for a better draw,
or trying a different timeslot altogether.
