AVG outgoing mail scan returns mail as "undeliverable"

Using AVG 7.1.385
Virus Base Updated March 21, 2006 to 268.2.6/287
WinXP Home Edition OS, Pentium 4 laptop

After the above update my outgoing mail was all returned as undeliverable by "AVG for Email"
<avg@localhost>
with the message "Please configure your mail client to use authentication."
(Incoming mail was unaffected)

No OE settings were changed and I was already using authentication for SMTP at my ISP account.

I adjusted for it by turning off the AVG e-mail scanner completely and restarting the computer,
so now I can send mail again. I figure the update was responsible and will be corrected in a future
update (just a guess).

Anyone else have this problem today?

The easiest solution would be to disable outgoing mail scanning. It is of
dubious value at best.

Thanks CT.
I found a "solution", what I want to know is if anyone else had the same problem.
