Does the free AVG v6.0 scan incoming emails on Outlook Express 6? (I use it
to view my Hotmail account.)

TIA,

Karl

No,AVG does not scan before downloading e-mail.Most AV s' will
scan(POP3) before downloading but not hotmail(HTTP).If you use your
browser to check your mail then it is scanned.Hotmail has upgraded its'
scanners and junk mail filters a few days ago.

When I used AVG ,grisoft told me that it does scan the mail incoming but its
not possible to certify that (with the litte note it sticks on the
email). Some people say that email scanning doesnt work at all for OE6 but
only 5 but im sure OE6 users have noticed that thier mail has been
"certified".In any case AVG free just scans the inbox.dbx folder straight
after the mail has arrived.Other AVs such as avast or even AVG7 scans before
arrival by going through the "special" assigned port or server that they are
set up for.
