AVG FREE 8.0 question

I just upgraded to AVG 8.0 Free. When I run it, it finds no virus threats
but quite a bit of spyware (actually tracking cookies). With Ad-Aware I can
eliminate those items. I can't see how to do it with AVG.

I can SELECT all the spyware items, but I don't see any button that says
eliminate it. (There is a button that says remove infections, but that
doesn't seem to apply to the aforementioned items). Am I missing something
obvious (or not so obvious!).

The remove infections button seems to work for me. Notice that the icon
next to each tracking cookie changes after you press the button. Just
run another scan after pressing the button to see if they are really
gone.

I was trying to avoid that-- the scan takes so long!!! (About 2 hours + on
my system)

That's what I'll have to do

Just scan the folder where your browser saves the cookies.

I don't have that button I use 8.0 free version-everything is automatically
put into the vault ,encrypted and held there until you empty the vault..

Dennis,

I agree it does a make a very subutle change to the icon, when it should
be an obivious change similar to Spybot Search and destroy's large green
checkmarks... The average users is going to miss this completly...

The New graphical User interface is certantly smart, but it is a pain
compared to the previous version. The illusion that Graphic User
Interface needs to be changed with the performance upgrade is a mistake...

AVG provided far more user feed back with the previous interface, and
this one is one sweet looking GUI, but also major step backwards in
effective user interaction...

The scans take forever, to run a second scan to check and see if AVG has
completed its job is a major time waste. The scans slow my older system
down to a crawl for over an hour, not allowing much productive use...

I have had an error several times since I upgraded or added an anti-virus
to several malware over run systems. The error is indicating the virus
vault is already full... and it will not allow me to empty the virus
vault...

This is a major bug or exploit of the protection offered by running the
AVG software...

I also have several infected systems that are blocking any update
downloads, when the Internet connection runs fine for most everthing
else... I tried to download and install kaspersky also, it failed to
install...
