AVG: .bin file is missing

Hello.

Since my last update of windows vista home premium 64 bit, AVG refuses
to update normally and complains about a missing .bin file. I've
searched online for a solution and tried updating manually from a
folder, but to no avail.
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

Kind regards and thanks in advance for any suggestions, Niek

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling? That's often the fastest way to
correct problems.

Though.. now at another computer, AVG is acting up again. Suddenly it
stopped working. So I uninstalled it and installed it again. But now
it still complains that the connection to the update manager failed.
No matter how often I try to update.

Hello Niek:

Are both computers similarly provisioned with Vista Home Premium 64bit?

It would be good to know the details for the AVGs themselves; free or
premium, versions, etc. If premium you are entitled to paid support.
If free, a visit and/or posting to <http://freeforum.avg.com/> might be
next.

Please update this thread as you're able. Best wishes to you.

Pete

Hi Pete.
It seems the problem has resolved spontaneously (or after re-
installing avg). I use AVG Free edition on multiple computers. One
with XP (sp2) and another with Vista (home premium).
