I am running AVG 7 Free on a Windows 98se system with a DSL 'net conection.

For 2 / 3 days when I tryed to update AVG 7 free it would say none was available and to
try later. Finnally I completely uninstalled it thinking there may be a problem with it.
I then went to their web site and got the latest version and installed it. Now when I try
to update it it sets for ages connecting or if it does connect it keeps saying it is DLing
the latest update but my DSL modem shows no activity. All the other 'net programs work
fine. I have even restarted my system and retryed thinking that might help but no.

Anyone else having trouble with it or is it just me??

TIA

Yes - same here. Has been so for quite a few days now. Does eventually
connect and download but can take ages. Suspect the problem is with them.
Hope they sort it soon as it remains an excellent free program.

Mine states: "No new updates available at this time." "Please try again later."
Ver. 7.0 265.7.2 21 Jan 2005
AFAIK that is the last update. BTW the above was IAW manual update attempt.

What is the date of your latest update? I don't think they're a daily ocurrence
eventhough the scan is.

Updates happen when there's a need for an update. Don't expect one every
day. More like 1 to 3 times a week.

So, when it says that there's no new update, they mean it. No new update.

I agree. Mine connects says it's downloading but nothing is happening
and I can't close it without doing the ctrl/alt/delete. I am not
forcing a download. The program is doing it all.

I was having the same problem, but when you tell it to close and the
screen stays there, just click on a blank area and it will close, no
need to ctl, alt, del.

Yes. Have the same problem. The latest updates are quite large,
ca. 4 MB.
I've been downloading them from the Web page to a temp folder
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/24/lng/us/tpl/v5
and the using the update manager set to update from File rather than
Internet.
