AVG 7.5 causing Defender stop error?

I've been getting some calls and emails from customers about a startup error
from Defender:

"WINDOW DEFENDER
Application failed to initialize ox800106a. A problem caused the window
defender service to stop.
To start the service , restart your computer or search help & support on how
to service mannually."

One of the customers told me it started happening right after I told her to
upgrade her AVG Free from 7.1 to 7.5.
I had her reinstall Defender and this fixed the problem.
Checking back with some other folks, it looks like this may be a common
problem.
Any others having this?
Pete

Hi Pete;

I think it likely that this is just a timing coincidence. Defender Beta
expired on the last day of 2006 for everyone, not just the AVG users of
which many are represented on this forum. The fix for everyone is to
manually re-download and install the latest final full blown product
release of Defender from the Microsoft website.

Thanks, Dave.
I'm not sure that's the answer.
2 of the PC's in question I had just serviced and had uninstalled the beta
and installed the gold Defender.
What I didn't do on those was to update the AVG.
The problem does get fixed, however, by reinstalling Defender "after" the
update of the AVG.
I know I've still got some machines out there I put the old "Bulls Eye"
anti-spyware on and the 7.1 AVG. I'll see what happens.
Thanks for the tip on the concurrent expirations.
Sort of like a solar eclipse.
Pete

I've used Avg free with MSAS and still do now with 7.5 with Defender and
never had a single problem, i find they work well together. I also use Avast
AV, a second anti-virus program and all three seem to work well together.

They do work great together.
It just appears that there's a little niggle on the upgrade on some PC's
that can be fixed.
That was my main reason for posting.

All I have is a bit of negative information which is probably of scant
interest: I have the AVG Security suite, which I installed while Defender
beta2 was operational, and experienced no problems. Then I installed the
current version of Defender, and again had no problems (which is as you would
expect, given your observations and reinstallation of Defender).
