Hi there to the OP. Good question. In reply I have used Avast for about
three years now with complete satisfaction and absolutely no problems.
My grandson now choruses with it "Virus database has been updated". He's
even got the accent down which isn't bad for a Kiwi kid. Anyway, I use
it with XP, and this is a valid question for which the simple answer is
- don't ever respond to an email like that. You used wisdom in deleting
it. Avast can be left to cheerfully update itself without trouble. Hope
