I have been using Avast! antivirus free home edition, and until now have
found it effective and trouble-free.

I gave in to an annoying daily popup and downloaded the latest version, 4.8.
It seems to work and update automatically as it should, but now every day
when I boot up I get a popup saying that it may be out of date. This is
obviously false.

How can I stop the popup?

and if that doesn't work, post in the avast forums- you'll find some very
helpful folks there.

Thanks for the reply.
Wouldn't doing this defeat the automatic updating? I want to keep that.
