Hi all

I have a Western Digital WD800 SATA Drive and when I connect it to the
Southbridge SATA Controller (VIA VT8237) it will not recognise the
drive, but when I connect it to the Promise Sata Controller it detects
the drive. The Motherboard is the AV8-Deluxe board.
Anyone experience problems with the VIA VT8237 Controller?

Regards,
Horst

I know this is a terribly obvious point to even mention, but I've learned
that sometimes it's worthwhile to mention the obvious things first just to
be safe and save wasted time troubleshooting. Therefore, make sure that the
VIA 8237 SATA is enabled in your BIOS... I believe the option on the A8V
Deluxe is called Via SATA Boot ROM or something similar, and of course you
need to set it to [Enabled].
