....which is what I pointed out in my response to your ad-hominem attack. Why
can't you admit you got it wrong - again?

So - apart from getting it wrong, and linking to the wrong place - what is
the point of giving a fix for Win XP to an OP using Win 9x??
The vbs file, AFAIK, only points to potential errors - not a cure. (when you
can get it to run - I've just tried it in three 9x VPC's and it tells me
that I don't have enough admin rights!) - You also need to be a programmer
to understand the output, if you bothered to read the doc file that it comes
with. Hardly the sort of thing to point an OP here at, unless they profess
detailed knowledge.

Although the download page claims the tool is suitable for Win98, the doc
file within the download makes no mention of it, and I've been totally
unable to get it to run - did you even try?
From WMIDiag_ReadMe.doc:

- - -

The WMI Diagnosis Utility runs on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server
2003, and Windows VistaT.

- - -

and

- - -

Although we should note that the ability to check for repository corruption
is limited to computers running Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or Windows
ServerT 2003 Service Pack 1.

Okay - seems to be working now. First thing I did is look at the two
other Win 98 computers and saw neither had a WBEM folder (where mine
did). Sooooooo I simply renamed the WBEM folder on my computer to
MEBW and rebooted. Working fine!

I am certainly glad you have it working.

For the record, once I changed the folder back to Wbem it won't work
again(windoze did create a Wbem folder after I renamed the original
one, just had a log file in it). Anyway a quick and relatively easy
solution to get the AV-CLS working, at least for me.

PS - I need the Wbem folder, computer will boot and run, but much more
sluggish, and can't do a shutdown (hangs). Moot since I have the
folder name back.

Almost attempted it (downloaded the file) but when I also tried to
download the other required stuff (Windows Script Host version 5.6) M$
wanted to not only run some Windoze validation tool, it wanted me to
install a plugin for Firefox so I just mumbled something about Bill
Gates and didn't proceed any further :0)
