I've neen installing Win2000 SP4 on a new system and it worked fine. I had
also tried the Windows CD player and it started automatically after
inserting an audio CD.
Because the audio cables were missing, I got those and connected them today.
Now I have the following problem: after inserting an audio CD I get a
message (translated):

Desktop (in the blue bar)
access denied to device, path or file.

When I click OK, I can start the Windows CD player and play audio CD's from
both drives. But of course I want to get rid of this message after inserting
audio CD's. Any advice on this is very welcome!

BTW, when I insert an installable CD-ROM, it starts automatically without
the error.

I don't know the cause of your problem but with Win2k you don't need
this audio cable anymore.
Go into device manager and in the properties for the CD drive, go to the
properties tab. Mark the box "Enable digital audio". Now you can play
CDs without directly connecting the CD drive to the sound card.

In the meantime I found a solution for this error through google. It seems I
had to remove Windows audioCD player, and reinstall it. Now the audio CD's
autostart fine.
