Autorecover in excel does not work

A user suggested that they could not autorecover a file in excel. I set the
autoreover to 1 min in excel and opened the specified autorecover folder to
see whether it added a file while open...it didn't. I tried in word and this
worked fine. Anyone have any suggestions.
