The autoplay dialog box mysteriously and spontaneously launches in background
several times a day, continously searching for something to load. No CDs,
DVDs or any other devices have been loaded. This appears to slow down the
computer tremendously. When it dialog box is cancelled, it takes up to 10
minutes to shut down, and little else can be done on the computer effectively
until this is shut down.

I downloaded the autoplay repair wizard, but doesn't really apply as you
need to replicate the problem for it the program to fix the problem.

Any one have any advice on what the problem is and how to fix this?

Start with finding out which program autoplay starts and where the program
is located.

It never appears to start anything. Once it starts it just keeps on going
until the dialog box is cancelled. What can I check to see what program it
has started or is trying to start?
