Is there a way to have the XP autoplay handler window pop up when inserting
a Blank DVD? Autoplay works for all other media types on my PC except blank
DVDs.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for your posting.

I'd like to check if you are using a DVD-RW? After you insert the blank
DVD, can you open it? If Windows XP does not recognize the disc, you may
want to refer to the following article to see if it applies.

I am not using a dvdRW, just a DVD-R.

Here is what I am trying to accomplish.

Right now, when I load a blank CD-R into my burner, XP's Autoplay Handler
window pops up and I have the option of choosing what task/program I want to
use. I was wondering if there is a way to have the same function when I
insert at blank DVD-R into the burner. It does not do that. The Autoplay
handler window does not open when a blank DVD is inserted only Blank CD-Rs,
audio CDs, regular DVDs, etc.

Hi Craig,

It seems there is nothing we can do to get this behavior. I was wondering
if the Autoplay Handler window ever poped up when you inserted a blank DVD.
Have you tested the problem on other machines with the same burner?

I suggest using Tweak UI which is an application provided by Microsoft.
With this tool, one can customize the user interface of Windows XP easily.

1. Download Tweak UI from the following link:
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...EN-US/TweakUiP
owertoySetup.exe

2. Double-click the downloaded .exe file to install Tweak UI.

3. Open Tweak UI. Expand My Computer->AutoPlay.

4. Highlight Drives. On the right panel, enable the checkbox next to the
CD-ROM drive.

5. Highlight Types. On the right panel, enable all the items in the list
and then click OK.

Does it make any difference?

Sincerely,

William Wang
