automatically restarting every night

I upgraded from Win 98 to Win 2000 (Pro) a few weeks ago.
I'm pretty sure that's when it started happening. Never
happens when I'm in the middle of something - just once in
the middle of the night. Since I started noticing it (at
least two weeks ago), it's been very consistent - happens
every single night. There must be some kind of setting,
but I can't find it!

It doesn't seem to be an abnormal restart, so I don't
think it's the power supply. I disabled the auto restart
if there's a fatal error and haven't been getting error
messages instead. No screen saver or power saver turned
on.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Kathleen

Schedule a job to run every five minutes so that you know
when exactly it happens. This might give you some clues.

@echo off
echo %date% %time% %ComputerName% is up and running >> c:\%ComputerName%.log

is it being patched with Windows Update during the middle of the night and
restarting as a result of the patching?

what about the event logs?

Not every night - the updates are released only once a week.
