automatically mark junk mail messages as read

I have outlook 2007 and am using its junk mail filters. I would like outlook
to automatically mark any message that is moved to the junk mail filter as
read. I find it annoying that I constantly see a new mail icon in my status
bar for junk mail that I do not want to read. Any suggestions to rectify
this problem are appreciated

The only way would be to create rule(s) and it will not work on many emails
that are sent to junk by Outlook before processing your rules
