Automatically go from Suspend to Hibernate

Hi all,

I have a Dell laptop which, if unplugged from AC, will go from suspend to
hibernate after a certain amount of time (maybe an hour).

However, now I'm trying to make the same thing happen on an IBM laptop, but
it simply remains in suspend mode.

I checked under Power Management, and under "on batteries" I have "System
standby" and "System hibernates" set to 1 and 2 minutes, respectively, for
testing purposes.

Is this a problem with the IBM laptop hardware? Or is this most likely a
Windows/driver/software/config issue? (Or is the Dell an exception among
normal laptop behavior?)

Thanks in advance for any help.
