Sorry if it sounds a little trite but the best option for free is a
manual copy using the outlook client in my view
You can save this to PST.
Alternatively you could shut down exchange and save that pub.edb file
....
Most exchange backup agents will allow you to back up everything on
line
Your solution here is best go for Veritas and get an exchange agent
which will allow you to back it all up.
For free in the NT4 days MSX 55 could be backed up using ntbackup and
a script
I've not seen MSBackup used in this way though
