is it possible to automatically color email messages on the fly as you
recieve them without setting up rules or going to the organizer? I am
searching in the help but cant find it.

Thanks in advance

It would depend on your version of Outlook.
Outlook 2007 has color categories.
If you are referring to Automatic Formatting, then you can also predefine
your color rules based on categories and you when you want to color a
message, you simply assign that category.
