Thank you for the help. I keep an inventory of items I have in a collection,
and every time I make an addition (entries are alphabetical), I have to
manually renumber each item. Is there an automatic way to do this? I have
about 200 items in the collection and changing the numbers manually is really
time consuming.

Apply autonumbering to one of the columns (you can devote a separate column
to the numbers if desired). The easiest way to do this is to click the
Numbering button on the Formatting toolbar (or Home tab in Word 2007).
