automatic wireless

I have an XP client with a wireless 8.11g connection to our 3Com Access
Point with WPA encryption. I want his computer to automatically turn on
the wireless connection, but I always have to manually turn it on after
logging in. BTW, it retains, of course, the WPA password. I just have
to click on the wireless connection and chose start.

Also, I have the Access Point in question entered into the Preferred
networks section of his WIreless Network Connection Properties. It
would seem this would make it start the network connection
automatically, but it doesn't.
