I have automatic updates set to check daily for updates and to download them
automatically. I noticed in eventvwr that windows checks for updates every
hour all day long - every day. Should it be doing that? I would have assumed
it would check one time each day at the time specified.

Such behavior is not unusual if (1) the machine's not connected to the
internet or (2) Automatic Updates cannot reach the MS servers (for whatever
reason).

Thank you for your reply. Actually, I was mistaken. The hourly messages
related to Norton Internet Security. Apparently this program does check for
updates hourly when you use its pfishing protection, which I do. I'm not sure
why it does this so frequently, but it does.

Guess my CrystalBall© wasn't working very good, was it? <eg> Perhaps you
should have mentioned LiveUpdate, not "automatic updates."

Contact Symantec Support if you need further assistance, Len.
