Good Day All!!
I have read through the posts on the topic of services stopping unexpectedly
on both WinXP and Server products and have searched the web on the topic and
still I cannot find a fix for this issue. On brand new PCs, or ones that have
been in production for some time, several clients have XP Pro SP2 with all
patches, and updates and if automatic updates are not disabled, several
services including Server, Computer Browser, DHCP Client, etc stop with no
event or error. This causes all kind of issues in browsing the network as
you can imagine. It definately appears to have happened after an MS update.
Anyone shed any light on this on a real solution to the problem, I know that
I am not alone in this.

THANKS!!!

Hello,

I do not know why the problem is coming, but one thing you can try is to
restore the system to an earlier date before the problem occurred.

Workaround: Change the default from Microsoft Update to Windows Update: Go
to Microsoft Update > Click on Change Settings in left pane > Scroll to
bottom of page > To Stop Using Microsoft Update > Disable Microsoft Update
software and let me use Windows Update only (check).

With Windows Update as your default, you will need to check in at Office
Update to keep your Office applications fully patched:
