Is it possible to set the local user account that's signed in and give it
permissions to install Windows Updates? I know that you can pick certain
accounts but will the yellow exclamation point appear under the user account
if you set it in the AU service.

I just want to cut down on logging into the workstations as administrator
and installing.

You could have stuck with your original thread.

Unless there's a GPO in place or you're using WSUS as the default update
source, any User Account should be able to have AU enabled.

We don't have a WSUS and we are on a domain but we hardly use the GPO.

I support a lab that isn't connected to a network - a straight internet
connection and I just want to set up the local user account permissions
rights to install updates without having to log in as administrator. I have
to support about 40-50 machines and want to cut down some of the work.

You shouldn't have to tweak anything, just make sure AU is enabled and
configured the way you want.
