Hello Gary; hope this helps. If you use Windows XP or Windows 2000
Service Pack (SP3) or later: Visit Microsoft Update and look for the
Automatic Updates box on the right side of the screen. Click Pick a
time to install updates.
To turn off Automatic Updates, click More Options and then click Turn
off Automatic Updates. We do not recommended doing this.
Or Click Start
Go to Control Panel.
Click System.
Go to the Automatic Updates tab.
Un-select the "Keep my computer up to date" box.
Click ok
BTW, next time you need to open the System applet you can do so much
faster: instead of clicking your way to the System icon, you can just
right click My Computer and choose Properties, or even better - press
the Windows Logo key on your keyboard and then press Pause/Break at the
same time.
