AUtomatic Updates - Notify me but don't automatically download

I am running XP Service Pack 3. My Automatic Updates is set to "Notify me
but don't automatically download or install them." This used to work
perfectly, but now it has changed how it works.

I do get notified when there are updates, and get the option to pick what
updates to download.

But now, when the updates are done downloading, I do not get the option of
what updates to install. The updates are installed when I turn off my
computer. I get the special "Install Updates" icon on the turn off button,
and I get no option on what updates to install. It installs all downloaded
updates or none.

How can I get my Automatic Updates to work the way it used to, letting me
pick when to download the updates, and what updates to download. Then when
the download is done, letting me pick when to install the updates and what
updates to install.

Thanks

Eric

Click on the Update Notify icon in the Notification Tray and you are
taken to the Windows Update site. You will see XX updates are available
to download. Click on the Details button and you will presented with a
window with a list of updates and a box before each. Each box will be
either checked or unchecked. If you do not agree with the selection you
make your changes to match your requirements.

Here for months I have been offered Silverlight with the box before it
unchecked. If I ever did want it I would need to check the box.

Hope this helps.
