We are having this issue on our network, and it just randomly pops up on a
machine and will not go away. All of the sudden, a user calls saying they
cannot access anything on the network. After researching, I noticed a bunch
of services had just stopped (including things like Server, Computer Browser,
Workstation, Automatic Updates...about 10 total). After going in an starting
them one after another, I noticed that when I start the Automatic Updates, it
starts for a second, then stops, and kills all those other services again.
The only thing I can do is disable the Automatic Updates and then everything
works fine. At first I thought it was an SP2 thing, but it is happening
randomly on SP1 or SP2. There is no warning, rhyme, or reason why it is
happening. We need help right away PLEASE!!
