I've had a Kodak digital camera for years. When I plug it into my computer,
it is recognized as an "imaging device", and I have it set to automatically
copy all pictures to a network drive.

I just got a Sony DSC-P200. When I plug it in, the computer recognizes it
not as an "imaging device", but as a "portable media device." As a result, I
don't have any of the automatic transfer options available to me - I'm stuck
with the unusable (for me) Scanner and Camera Wizard.

Does anyone have a workaround for this problem? My goal is not to have to do
anything when copying pictures to the computer - and I definitely don't want
to rename them as the Scanner and Camera Wizard requires.

I had a similar problem with my media card reader when I upgraded and
installed, here is how I solved it.

1. Plug the camera in and close any auto play wizards that open
2. Go to my computer and double click or open
3. Right click on the device ( your camera)
4. Open/select properties
5. Click on the auto play tab
6. From the drop down menu select the media (pictures) from the options
given
7. Select the program in the window that appears below that you would like
to open (ms picture wizard, or one of your graphics or library programs in
the list to open) when you plug your camera in.
8. Apply, ok etc.
